New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during his address that the Bhagavad Gita teaches humanity to pursue peace and truth while also providing strength to crush oppressive forces. He highlighted that India believes in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam yet stands firm when protection is required. Modi stated that chanting “Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah” reflects responsibility towards justice. He linked spiritual values with national resilience. The event included participation of one lakh devotees reciting Gita verses. Modi said teachings hold relevance in governance and defence.
Modi recalled the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year that claimed twenty six lives, including tourists and citizens from Karnataka. He said India responded with determination through Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan. According to him, this operation demonstrated clarity of intent and courage under pressure. He maintained that unlike earlier governments which hesitated, today’s India does not back away from defending citizens. The audience responded with strong approval. Officials present acknowledged his statement.
The Prime Minister mentioned Mission Sudarshan Chakra which aims to strengthen protection of critical sites and public areas. He said the initiative draws inspiration from Lord Krishna’s teachings. Modi pointed out that messages of compassion and courage from Krishna are promoted from the Red Fort as well. He explained that strategic protection aligns with spiritual ideology. During his speech, Modi appreciated Udupi for presenting a governance approach five decades ago which now guides national policies on cleanliness and water management. He praised Swami Vishwesh Teerth of Pejawar Mutt for his influential role in the Ram Temple movement. Modi stated that dedication shown by Udupi strengthened religious identity. He said cultural leadership continues shaping public initiatives. Attendees welcomed his remarks. Experts view this as recognition of historical contributions.
Modi connected Gita teachings to government policies like Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He said slogans such as “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and “Sarvajan Hitay” emerged from scriptural values. According to him, Bhagavad Gita promotes welfare of the poor. He added that national decision-making is influenced by ancient wisdom. Supporters believe philosophical references strengthen policy credibility. Modi emphasised continuous relevance of Gita ideals. Speaking about women’s reservation law passed recently, Modi said Bhagwan Krishna’s guidance supports women’s safety and empowerment. He referred to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam ensuring thirty three percent reservation. He said principles like global cooperation and solar alliance also reflect spiritual messages. The statement received applause. Modi noted spiritual heritage shapes modern India’s global initiatives. Analysts said linkage aims to strengthen societal acceptance. Observers believe it aligns policy with tradition.
Modi urged citizens to adopt nine resolutions including water conservation, planting a tree in mother’s name, aiding at least one poor person, promoting swadeshi products, encouraging natural farming, improving lifestyle with reduced oil and millet intake, adopting yoga, supporting manuscript preservation and visiting twenty five heritage locations across India. He said these steps align faith with national duty. The audience pledged participation. Modi concluded saying India’s future lies in combining devotion with responsibility.
